Barbara is a doctoral candidate working at Soul Work Counseling as an advanced practicum student providing psychotherapy and psychological assessments. She earned her master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University, and she is currently working toward earning a Doctorate in Counseling Psychology (PsyD) from Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota. Barbara has enjoyed counseling diverse populations in rural Minnesota as well as young adults in college, addressing anxiety, depression, trauma, life-transitions and academic challenges. Barbara uses a multicultural approach, counseling from the client’s framework of beliefs. In counseling, Barbara draws from theories such as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to create a treatment plan that is centered in the specific needs of the individual.
